John Nagelhout, Ph. D., FAAN, CRNA
John Nagelhout PhD, CRNA FAAN received his anesthesia education at Virginia Commonwealth University, the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond Virginia. He received a Masters and PhD in Pharmacology from Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan. He practiced anesthesia at Detroit Receiving Hospital for over 20 years before becoming the Director of the Kaiser School of Anesthesia.
Michael Boytim, Ed. D., CRNA
Michael has been a nurse anesthetist since 1984, and became employed full-time as an educator at Kaiser Permanente School of Anesthesia (KPSA) 1991. He currently is an assistant director for KPSA , and program director for the Kaiser Permanente Anesthesia Technology Program (KPAT). He provides both academic and clinical instruction in the KPSA and KPAT programs.
Sass Elisha, Ed. D., CRNA
Sass is an educator, anesthesia practitioner and administrator at Kaiser Permanente School of Anesthesia (KPSA). His areas of expertise include: pharmacology, human anatomy and physiology, vascular and pediatric anesthesia. He has been educating nurse anesthesia and anesthesia technology students in all aspects of scientific and clinical anesthesia principles since 1997.
Sandra Bordi, DNP, CRNA
Sandra graduated from Kaiser Permanente School of Anesthesia in 2003 and became full-time academic faculty in 2007. She holds a special interest in the areas of pain physiology and pain management, geriatrics, and endocrine physiology. She educates nurse anesthesia and anesthesia technology students while continuing to practice anesthesia at an urban Kaiser Permanente hospital.
Jeremy Heiner, Ed. D., CRNA
Jeremy graduated from Kaiser Permanente School of Anesthesia in 2004, and began as a full time instructor in 2008. His areas of interest include airway management, trauma, pediatrics, anatomy and physiology, and anesthesia simulation. In addition to providing anesthesia instruction, he currently practices clinical anesthesia in both an urban and rural anesthesia setting.
Jennifer Thompson, DNP, CRNA
Jennifer graduated from Kaiser Permanente School of Anesthesia (KPSA) in 2004 and joined KPSA in 2009. She holds a special interest in the areas of peripheral nerve blockade for pain management, obstetrics, and bariatrics. She co-directs the anesthesia simulation lab. She educates nurse anesthesia and anesthesia technology students while continuing to practice anesthesia at Kaiser hospital.
Edward Waters, DNP, CRNA
Edward completed a clinical residence in anesthesia in 1996 at the Kaiser Permanente School of Anesthesia. He holds degrees in nursing from St. Louis University and UCLA and is currently engaged in doctoral studies at the University of Colorado. He has been a director of the National Board on Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists since October 2010.
Vicki has been associated with anesthesia for 24 years. She began her anesthesia career to help develop an anesthesia support position that could be standardized within the health-care system. Vicki has worked with anesthesia organizations to promote the profession, eventually becoming Assistant Clinical Department Administrator at Kaiser Baldwin Park.
Otoniel has been in the anesthesia field since 1989. He began his career as an anesthesia technician at CHLA . He has been involved with the national society of technologists and technicians to advance his profession. He has lectured at various local and national events and for the past three years was the Anesthesia Support Supervisor at UC Irvine Medical Center. Now he is a Clinical and Didactic Instructor with the KPAT program.
Sandra W. Snow-Hinkson
Administrative Specialist III
Sandra has worked for the Kaiser Permanente School of Anesthesia for the last 18 years as an Administrative Specialist III. Sandra attended Ashford University where she completed her baccalaureate in Business Information Systems in February 2014 and her MBA in March 2015.
Janet has worked at Kaiser since 2001. She has been employed at the Kaiser Permanente School of Anesthesia since January 23, 2017. Janet provides clerical support to the faculty. In addition, she assists the students with their various needs to help them transition smoothly through their 2 years in the program.
